The event is taking place in the courtyard of the Yaounde Conference Centre from 9th to 15th October 2017 under the theme, “Rooting Africa’s Emergence”.The festival village leading into the courtyard of the ConferenceCentre has been christened “Ubuntu”.The Ubuntu village during the opening welcomed close to 150 exhibitors of African art and history. The exhibition stands constructed with bamboo and mud are a major attraction to curious visitors.Opening the ruby jubilee celebrations, the Minister of Arts and Culture hailed the existence of CERDOTOLA, saying the 40th anniversary points to the important role the institution plays in upholding the African culture as a whole and the culture of Cameroon in particular, through diverse research worksA parade of African traditional rulers from CERDOTOLA’s founding countries including Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon kick-started the grand event. The leaders used the parade to showcase the African tradition and its values.Other highlights of the one-week long celebration will include ;- Meetings of culture ministers, culture institution heads andtraditional authorities.- CERDOTOLA 2017 International Conference- Grand Cultural Exhibition in the Ubuntu village- Fashion Parade in African designs- Competitions and traditional games- Special CERTODOLA nights- Meeting of Executive Bureau of the International Music Council- Closing Gala and award of prizesThe International Centre for Research and Documentation on African Traditions and Languages known by its French acronym, CERDOTOLA, is an inter-state institution of scientific cooperation for the preservation and broadcast of the African Cultural Heritage.
