Correspondent reports from the East indicate that unidentified armed men attacked a mosque in the border town of Kadei and took worshipers hostage. The National Gendarmerie was alerted and the elite unit surrounded the attackers. The hostage takers immediately opened fire on the security forces. In the gun battled that ensued, one of the assaillants was shot dead while three of the adducted victims, caught in cross fire were killed. After long hours of fighting, the invaders, favoured by the darkness of the night, escaped to the Central African Republic. Investigations have been opened by competent authorities. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
