The 5th edition of the Limbe Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) begins on 7th through 14th April, 2018 in Limbe.This present festival coincides with the 160th anniversary of Victoria, now Limbe founded in 1856 by Reverend Alfred Saker, a missionary.The official ceremony takes place at the Limbe Community Field while other events including canoe race, football, and marathon will take place on the allocated playing grounds.The Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council (LCC) Motanga Andrew Monjimba highlights the role of the media in the celebrations.He says FESTAC has become renowned in Cameroon and Central Africa Region, thanks to the media.The total budget for the 2018 FESTAC, he says, is FCFA 100 million.The female canoe race has been coined in as an innovation in the present edition.The FESTAC programme will also feature cultural music, dances and choral displays by delegations from all ten Regions resident in Limbe.The Nigerian, Ghanaian and Beninoise communities resident in Limbe have indicated that FESTAC is opportunity to showcase the richness of their cultures.The festival figures other activities notably traditional wrestling, tug of war, canoe racing, boat tour, the Idenau Limbe Njalla Quan Marathon and daily musical concerts.In a press conference, Government Delegate, Motanga Andrew Monjimba says FESTAC, Limbe is proof that national integration and peaceful coexistence is a reality. Bruno Ndonwie Funwie
